Another powerful reason to watch and listen is that it’ll allow you to identify your people’s core fears. Our fears hold us back from taking action, so knowing their fears means that you can address their fears and reassure them that it’s safe to get on board.
As you watch and listen, what are their core fears?
How can you address those fears and reassure them that it’s safe to join your vision?

There’s an interesting relationship between listening and leading. Sometimes a true leader will hear what his or her tribe says, but decide to take them in a different direction, because that seems like the right direction.
It’s not easy to take your tribe somewhere different to where they’ve been telling you they want to go, but that was part of the reason why Nelson Mandela’s leadership was so transformational.
Are there any areas where you’re listening and letting your tribe or a particular person lead you somewhere you don’t want to go?

Anger is a huge blocker in relationships. Often when we sense that someone is angry with us, we try to gloss over it and get on with things or we try to tell them why they shouldn’t be angry. These strategies only serve to increase anger and resistance.
Is there any anger that needs to be heard and addressed with the people you’re serving and leading? How can you let them voice their anger and just hear them out?
P.S. Remember that leadership isn’t a position thing. Your children, your parents, your siblings, your friends… there are opportunities to serve and lead in all your relationships.

Our values are what motivates us to take action. Watching and listening will enable you to discover your tribe’s values, so that you can know what’s important to them and demonstrate to them how your vision/ project will help them get what’s important to them.
As you’re watching and listening… what’s most important to your tribe?
To what degree does your vision help them to get what they value?
How can you make it clearer to them that you can help them get what they value?
