Often when it’s a difficult relationship and we’re frustrated with people who aren’t doing what we ask or need of them, then we start to focus on what we don’t like about them, and all their flaws and weaknesses. The more difficult the relationship, the harder it is for us to see their humanity and goodness.

Think of someone you’re having a difficult time with.

What’s good about them? What’s their “tiny Timmy” story – the little child in them that has needs and vulnerabilities? To what degree have you acknowledged their goodness or their vulnerabilities?

The Bottom-line on Invictus is my favorite Bottom-line so far. I loved doing the research for it and creating it for you – and it made me really homesick for South Africa!

As usual, I interviewed the author – John Carlin. John is an incredibly experienced journalist whose work has focused on political change in South Africa. He got to know Nelson Mandela quite intimately for the writing of his book, Invictus, as well as other documentaries he’s written about Nelson Mandela and his ex-wife, Winnie Mandela. So John’s insights were absolute gems. Then I extracted 19 leadership strategies that Nelson Mandela used to be a transformational leader to create my Bottom-line lecture. But the part of this Bottom-line that I was most moved by was my interview with ex-Freedom-Fighter and political prisoner, Thulani Mabaso. So I’ve decided to share this interview with everyone because I want as many people as possible to hear it.

It’s an incredibly powerful interview – partly because of the gems of wisdom that Mr Mabaso shared, but also because of the extremity of his story. He hasn’t sanitized the story for you, so be prepared to hear some pretty hardcore stuff.

Exercising your mental and emotional freedom is the foundation of Agile Living and creating all the other types of freedom that you might want for yourself and the people around you.
